Meet Our Lead Artist
Carol McElroy is a portrait artist specializing in oil paint with over 20 years experience. Showing an artistic proclivity from a very young age, she excelled through grade school and art school, collecting a myriad of awards and scholarships at art shows. After attending the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale straight out of high school, Carol took a break to start a family. A mother of four, she spent two decades being a trad wife and painting casually from home. Through those years she watched as the budget for the arts, both publicly and in schools, get cut again and again, and started thinking of ways to bring back art culture for both professionals and students alike. The Atelier is a two decades old dream finally come to fruition, complete with classes, studios, community building, critiques, and events. She has moved her home studio to The Atelier to continue working while providing the artistic public with resources, support, and community. From this public place, she hopes to see a revival of the arts and fine arts studies, and the growth of a classic art community.
She is not currently accepting commissions or working on any concentrations, instead focusing on establishing The Atelier.
